Photovoltaic Sculpture Motion Studies (2017 - 2018)

I've been experimenting with these types of self-powering kinetic sculptures for a couple of years now. The only design constraint I use with these devices is that all of the electronics live in the spining element. This gives it some interesting properties, because not only does the size and electrical configuration of the solar panels impact it's behaviour, but their placement on the sculpture also affects it.

The gifs are fun, but you lose a lot of the nuance of the motion in them (and these are motion studies after all).
